Concept Art for the Soul

To stay relevant in the ever evolving design world, it is critical that we are constantly learning and studying great work from the past and present.  During this journey, we have come across so many great artists and amazing styles.  Our library of amazing art continues to grow as our journey continues.  The Swedish artist named Semiotext has always inspired us to destroy the boundaries that will sometimes limit the scope of a project.  Check their website and be inspired.

Recycle and Conserve

This is a great cartoon clip about recycling.  If we don’t recycle, conserve and stop polluting, we’ll definitely get what we deserve.  We were created as stewards for the Earth, but instead we have become obsessed with dominating it.  It is so easy to say, “Do your part,” and then pound a delicious Monster Energy 16oz and chuck it directly into the dump.  What’s the harm in trying though?

Liberate Your Mind!

A quick, yet powerful quote from Haile Selassie I, the Emperor of Ethiopia from 1930-1974.  Take a second to listen to the song as well, first performed by Bob Marley.  The world would be a much better place if “a man’s skin was of no more significance than the color of his eyes.” Liberate your mind.

“...until the philosophy which holds one race superior and another inferior is finally and permanently discredited and abandoned: That until there are no longer first-class and second class citizens of any nation; That until the color of a man’s skin is of no more significance than the color of his eyes; That until the basic human rights are equally guaranteed to all without regard to race; That until that day, the dream of lasting peace and world citizenship and the rule of international morality will remain but a fleeting illusion, to be pursued but never attained; And until the ignoble and unhappy regimes that hold our brothers in Angola, in Mozambique and in South Africa in subhuman bondage have been toppled and destroyed; Until bigotry and prejudice and malicious and inhuman self-interest have been replaced by understanding and tolerance and good-will; Until all Africans stand and speak as free beings, equal in the eyes of all men, as they are in the eyes of Heaven; Until that day, the African continent will not know peace. We Africans will fight, if necessary, and we know that we shall win, as we are confident in the victory of good over evil...”

Color is Kool

Just came across this image from another blog and thought I’d swipe it for Koerce.  The colors of this piece are amazing.  We are in the middle of organizing our immense printed swipe file and have literally looked at thousands of images over the past couple days.  This image still stands out as a pop powerhouse.

Balanced and Beautiful

We are constantly on the hunt for designs that inspire and push us.  Sergio Leone’s “The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly” poster from 1966 displays an incredibly balanced design with a color way that is simple, yet extremely powerful. The three rectangles and placement of character is amazing.  We might have to print up a couple of these for personal consumption;) http://koercemedia.com/index.php/site/blog/
